May we all say “Good to see you” to Etnies here on The Maxiemillion? It was a while, probably after that collab with Magenta, that I did not post anything by the brand founded by Pierre Andre Senizergues, whose public image limited is run by his right arm Don Brown.
Needless to say that if this brand first pro model was Natas Kaupas’s, we are not dealing with rookies or with sporting goods brands turned last minute skate footwear brands but with people that lived and breathed skateboarding since its early beginnings.
With such an introduction the rest of this post has to keep up with but it’s not hard if I have to talk about Matt Berger and his Jameson. As real as it gets, Matt came under the spotlight in 2014 as the first am to ever enter Street League and he did it with determination, shutting non-believers up.
This Flip pro hailing from West Columbia has the necessary skills to compete with top pros in one of the most followed contest ever and in this case the pressure is a lot, very different from filming a line at your spot with your friends. That’s how Matt came into the spotlight.
Talking to Etnies designers he developed Jameson SL Matt Berger following its indications where he wanted to keep board feel to the maximum while having a minimal silhouette. This lead to a midsole with egg-crate construction for vulc-like board feel and flexibility.
He needed the same flexibility on the heel with the heel notch and an overall wrapping feeling that comes from a one piece toe with a slim design.
His signature can be found on the Foam Lite 1 insole and if I may add, the tumbled leather look adds a touch that even non skateboarders may feel.
Blakshop carries an Etnies selection that you should check when you are done checking YouTube videos where Matt kills everything with a solid and clean style.
