I told you not long ago that I went to Pitti Immagine to see what’s hot and what’s not. In the first group I can put Primitive, no doubt. The skate brand founded by Paul Rodriguez had an organic growth through the years that shows no weak spots.
From putting together an all star team that includes certified killers for every street tech taste, to having those crazy nice gold foil skate decks, grandmaster P-Rod wanted to put its touch on apparel and this is what was in full display at Pitti at RNG Distribution booth.
Giorgio (RNG CEO) wanted me to pick up a pair of socks to show you what the brand is all about and I was happy to do so. By the level of detail of these socks it’s easy to perceive what the level of Primitive apparel is all about: unlimited freshness with a heathy dose of fun. In these days of easy collaborations, where everybody is trying to create alliances that lead to more or less intense shock values, Primitive kept its approach smart, creating a capsule collection with Kikkoman. During a recent Japan trip something sparked in P-Rod head and the result is something absolutely new.
Did you hear of a skate brand teaming up with the best soy sauce there is, before now? I sure didn’t and the result is impressive. On a tie dye pair of socks you have a jacquard craftsmanship and state of the art embroideries, one representing the soy sauce bottle and the other the Old English P that is synonymous with Primitive. Quite padded, to meet the needs of skateboarders that demand complimentary cushioning from their socks, this style not only looks good but it is supportive of your skate action.
What is left to do at this point is to browse Primitive website. It is there that, beside its video section where you can peep all the team, (including the new addictions Spencer Hamilton and JB Gillet), you can browse the whole Primitive x Kikkoman collaboration. For what concerns Primitive goods, you can get in touch with RNG Distribution. Yes, it’s in Milan, no need to go to Florence at Pitti…
